Each rug has been inspected by me at every stage of production before it goes into my container. The Afghans think I am the world's worst nit-picker, because I constantly harp about consistent quality, color and straightness. If the rug does not meet my standards, I don't even ship it to the US.
We have an extremely low ratio of "problem" carpets, due to my constant vigilance. My rugs are produced with an eye to how they will wear, and how good an antique rug they will become, not just to look pretty today. These carpets, with time and use, will grow lovelier as they age. And they will age well, because my materials are all top-quality.
Because these carpets are woven in individual family homes, not in a Kharkhana (central factory), they have all the interesting variations and differences that give a handmade rug its character. Each rug is unique.
